Holy Name Medical Center's comprehensive cardiovascular program provides optimal quality of care and patient safety with a wide array of preventive, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation services in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. Our goal is to detect and treat cardiac disease before it becomes life-threatening, and to provide services along a continuum, so that every patient's care is fluid and streamlined.
Holy Name's multidisciplinary cardiac team includes experts from all aspects of cardiovascular disease management, including board-certified cardiologists and interventional cardiologists, neurologists and emergency medicine physicians, specialized registered nurses and exercise physiologists, registered and certified diagnostic technologists and technicians, rehabilitation specialists, and a specially-trained support staff.
Diagnostic, Treatment & Rehabilitation
Holy Name Medical Center provides a broad spectrum of services for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease, and the rehabilitation of individuals who have had a cardiac event or are recovering from a cardiac procedure.
- Cardiac catheterization/percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA, or angioplasty)
- Cardiac rehabilitation services are available for patients who are recovering from a cardiac event or procedure.
- Echocardiograms are similar to sonograms or ultrasounds, using sound waves to visualize the heart, valves and blood vessels while assessing their function.
- Electrocardiograms (ECGs) record electrical impulses of the heart's contractions
- A loop recorder is a tiny cardiac monitoring device implanted under the skin of the chest that can be worn for up to 3 years.
- Pacemaker implantation, including MRI-compatible pacemaker
- Late-generation SPECT imaging (nuclear medicine) diagnoses heart disease with high-resolution, 3D images, cutting test time in half
- A stress echocardiography is an echocardiogram before and after a stress test to determine the heart's functioning capacity.
- A tilt-table test is a diagnostic tool to find the cause of fainting spells.
- A transesophageal echocardiograms is an internal ultrasound that is used when an echocardiogram doesn't provide a thorough image of the heart and vessels.
- 64-slice CT angiography provides multidimensional images of the heart, captured in fewer than five heartbeats
