Think you were exposed to COVID-19?

An exposure means you were in close contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more within a 24-hour time period. You have also been exposed if you have:

  •  Provided care for someone sick with COVID-19
  •  Direct physical contact (hugged or kissed them)
  •  Shared food or drink
  •  Someone sneezed, coughed or got respiratory droplets on you

If you've had an exposure, you should QUARANTINE: Stay home and away from others for 14 days after your last contact with that person.

Do your best to stay away from others even in your own household, especially those at higher risk if they get COVID-19.

Watch for symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath or other symptoms

What about testing?

  •  Testing can help confirm if you have become infected with COVID-19 even if you have no symptoms.
  •  The most common time frame for developing symptoms is 4-5 days, so you should wait to schedule a test until it's been 5 days since your exposure. Testing sooner with a negative result may give you a false sense of security.

Even if you test negative, you should still quarantine for the full 14 days if possible since symptoms can appear up to 14 days after the exposure.

Follow good masking and hand washing practices.
